The Change Course: A Three-Session Online Leadership Course (2025)

Navigating change is a core responsibility of leadership, yet it remains one of the most challenging. The good news? Effective change leadership is a skill that can be learned. This three-part course is designed for church leaders and those guiding change in their communities. Through biblical foundations, proven change models, and practical application, participants will gain fresh confidence and faith needed to lead impactful change.

Through a combination of teaching, interactive workshops, and time spent on real-world change projects, course participants will:

• Discover why change matters – explore biblical insights, historical examples, and practical ways to identify key drivers of change in your church.
• Learn proven change models – understand framework’s like Kotter’s process, agile thinking, CPAS’ own change model and more to discern the best approach to your context.
• Develop influence and momentum – build a coalition of support, navigate opposition with wisdom, and harness the power of storytelling to inspire your congregation.
• Apply learning to real-life change projects – bring your initiative from your church, gain feedback in a safe place, and develop clear, actionable strategy tailored to your unique challenges.
• Strength for the change leaders – change is demanding so explore the role of prayer, vulnerability and resilience in leadership, but also essential reliance on the Holy Spirit for sustaining grace.

The recent Living Ministry Report shows that ‘change’ significantly impacts clergy and we want to address that. This is a new opportunity we are excited to offer church leaders. Come and connect and be equipped with tools and frameworks to strengthen you on the journey of change.

This new three-part course is designed for leaders guiding change in the communities including:

• Planting a new congregation.
• Overseeing a building project.
• Launching a new outreach initiative.
• Restructuring of staff team.
• You are in the first few years of a new clergy post.

When May/June/July 2025: 

• Session 1 Thursday 22 May 2025 (9.30am-12.45pm).
• Session 2 Thursday 12 June 2025 (9.30am-12.45pm).
• Session 3 Thursday 3 July 2025 (9.30am-12.45pm).

Where sessions will be held on Zoom.

Who Two people from your church, the incumbent/senior leader plus one other person from your leadership team.

What is the commitment? You will be committing to approximately 1 hour of additional preparation work and engagement with the material outside of the sessions for the duration of the short course as you seek to embed change.

Cost £150 per church.
