Three Essential Prayers For Every Leader.

The late Scottish theologian John Murray talked of the need in today’s church for “intelligent mysticism”. For those of us in leadership, that might mean holding together sound doctrine, thoughtful strategy and fervent prayer. But, in reality, how effective are we as leaders who pray and what practical instruction does Jesus give us about how to pray for our churches?

Explore three essential prayers for you and your church rooted in Jesus’ own ministry. Discover what it means to prioritise his joy for your people, to prayerfully guard them from enemy attack, and to view them not as puzzles or problems but through Jesus’ eyes of love.

Through our time together, you will learn to align with how Jesus prayed for his followers, glean practical insights for your own prayer life, and grow in praying that releases kingdom fruit in your church.

For the last fourteen years, Mark Brickman has served at St Aldates, a multi-generational church meeting at the heart of Oxford. From 2016 onwards, as Associate Minister, he helped lead the church and promoted discipleship pathways for new and mature believers. Prior to ordination, he worked as a theatre director for twenty years, as well as in film, radio, and opera. His special interests are spiritual formation, prayer, and theology of the imagination.

There is a growing collective of leaders who want to grow closer to Jesus, and lead with faith, resilience and impact in a changing world.

Aimed at those under 40 who are either church leaders or who carry significant leadership responsibility in the church, this growing collective creates opportunities to connect, learn and be strengthened in leadership.

If you’d like to stay connected, hear about future gatherings and receive occasional resources and encouragement for your leadership, join the mailing list here.
